  • Abstract
In this article, the magnetic properties of materials and their action are discussed in applications in electromagnetics drives. The authors consider and discuss the conditions, metallurgies and the properties of the magnetic materials that find application in these areas. Magnetization curves are compared, as are losses and several makes of steel permeability with magnetic applications. They also present steels with characteristics and special uses, as well as the characterization of ferrites and magnetics steels. They demonstrate the importance of a good mechanical and electric specification of the magnetic materials with applications in devices of low and high frequency. Progress is presented in chemistry, in physics and mechanics in the elaboration and production of these materials. Technology, costs, manufacturers and limitations are exposed, as well as a possible road to development, with respect to several markets
