Abstract
This paper describes in brief MSETCL network topology and its characteristic behaviour in case of nonavailability of important corridors in the state as well as behaviour of state grid when regional grid is stressed. It also gives emphasis on importance of proper functioning of these corridors for stability of the state grid as well as that of western regional grid. These aspects are explained with the help of some case studies. Further scope of this paper covers importance of advanced operational and control measures like implementation of Wide Area Measurement Systems(WAMS).It also focuses on initial experiences of MSETCL in developing implementation of WAMS scheme in MSETCL grid which not only benefit Maharashtra grid but also beneficial for whole of a Western regional grid.
