Abstract
De-interlacing is a key technology in digital video processing and standard conversion. This paper proposes a motion adaptive spatial-temporal de-interlacing algorithm based on motion morphologic detection. In the proposed algorithm, a motion morphologic detector is presented to determine where the missing pixels belong to moving or static region. If the missing pixel belongs to the static region, the field copy method is adopted; otherwise, an adaptive spatial -temporal -wise interpolation is applied according to the texture complexity. Furthermore, a modified five direction interpolation method is proposed to improve the performance. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the subjective qualities and the interlaced artifacts are eliminated.
