Abstract :
Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) system has been standardized in ITU-T Rec. G.984 series. It can provide high-speed optical subscriber networks with broad bandwidth and is getting more popular in access network. But with the continuous increase in higher bandwidth demand applications like IPTV, VOD, HDTV, E-learning etc, the need for much higher capacity over GPON links is more obvious. In this paper, we propose a method of deploying MAC protocols and a special filter over GPON system to get higher rate of GPON links´ utilization.
