Abstract :
This paper presents new physical-layer chipset to achieve high-performance uplink burst-mode transmissions for 1.25 Gb/s Ethernet PON (EPON). System requirements and optical diagnostic challenges are discussed with system performance demonstrated exceeding the specifications defined in IEEE 802.3ah standards.
