Abstract
Two main types of rotor structure used in doubly-fed brushless machine (DFBM) are the cage and ALA (axially laminated anisotropy) rotors. In order to investigate the effect of different rotor structures on the dynamic characteristic of DFBM, this paper presents the comparative study results between the ALA reluctance rotor and cage rotor machine. It is indicated that the DFBM with cage rotor has better starting characteristic, however, the DFBM with ALA rotor is provided with fine drag-in and dynamic response ability
