Abstract
A method for characterizing radar signatures using the wavelet transform is developed based on the principle of scattering centers. Scattering features represented as multiscale edges can be identified based on their Lipshitz regularity coefficients. The extracted features are directly related to target geometry and can be used for target identification. The denoising algorithm developed by S. Mallet el al. (IEE Trans vol. PAMI-14, no.7, p.710-32, July 1992) was also implemented, and the extracted wavelet-based features were used for target classification. The target analysis and recognition technique was tested using experimentally measured radar signals.<>
