Abstract
A new receiver structure is described for abutted waveform detection and estimation. The authors propose using abutted waveforms for a twin processor processing technique that reduces sidelobe interaction, thereby providing improved clutter rejection. The twin processor requires two looks at the channel, and using abutted waveforms it is possible to obtain both Doppler and range resolution. This makes it possible to design better detectors and to obtain improved estimates of the scattering function. The performance of the abutted waveform matched filter is evaluated and then compared to that of the twin processor.<>
