Abstract
The design of an extended complex Kalman Filter for frequency estimation of distorted power system signals has been presented in this paper. The design principles and validity of the model have been outlined. In general abnormal data obtained from measurements may affect the accuracy of frequency estimation. Hence fast and accurate frequency estimation is necessary. For this reason, the proposed algorithm is employed to suppress the abnormalities. The results of frequency estimation for distorted signals using the proposed method are compared with extended complex kalman filter method and zero crossing method. Comparison of results reveals the superior performance of the former method.
