Abstract :
This paper shows that the aerial medium voltage (MV) power grid rivals Fiber in Capacity, at UHF/VHF bands, offering measured spectral densities up to 15-20 Bps/Hz in a repeatered system, with Shannon capacities reaching OC12/OC48 rates. Its ubiquitous deployment, channelization, and the general availability of unused VHF/UHF broadcast channels, implies excellent suitability as a metro/access solution.
