Abstract
Zeroth-order resonators composed of 2-D dielectric-based composite right/left handed (CRLH) metamaterial structures and their radiation characteristics are investigated. The balanced CRLH structures are designed and fabricated to excite the zeroth-order resonance for the large scale size. The radiation characteristics of the resonators for several configurations with different number of unit cells are numerically simulated and measured. The measurement results are in good agreement with the numerical results, and validate the enhancement of the radiation directivity and gain with the increase in the number of the unit cells.
