Abstract
The performance of a time division multiple access (TDMA) system in an outdoor microcellular environment is presented. The system is based on the TIA standard IS-54 and utilizes adaptive channel allocation (ACA). New solutions concerning handover strategies are presented. Results from simulations show that the microcells would perform well and would substantially increase capacity when introduced in a macrocell system
