Abstract :
The perfect electromagnetic conductor (PEMC) is a novel concept with interesting properties and many potential applications. In this paper, a practical solution for the realization of an effective free-space PEMC boundary is introduced. The operation of this PEMC is based on 45° Faraday rotation and ground reflection of a normally plane wave incident to a grounded ferrite slab. In the resulting free-space PEMC boundary, the reflected and incident fields are mutually orthogonal, which may lead to sensor and radar applications.
