Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to examine the status of real-time flood monitoring system and indicate how GIS-based system can overcome the limitation of existing systems. While the hydrological models are available, the are poorly used to real-time application, and not well integrated with spatial datasets. Taking GIS as analysis platform, real-time hydrological data and spatial data can be combined efficiently. We describe the development of real-time flood monitoring system that permits integrated handling of hydrological data coming from a wireless monitoring network. Using spatial analysis technology in GIS software, water surface elevation data is obtained according to hydrological data and spatial position information. And flood area information is analyzed by minus of water surface elevation and digital elevation model. Finally, flood information is showed in 3-D analysis model.
