The powder activated carbon (PAC) is used as adsorbents to study the adsorption performance of humic acid (HA) in aqueous solutions. The adsorption capacity of HA onto PAC increased with HA initial concentration, and decreased with pH and temperature, The maximum adsorbed amounts of HA onto PAC calculated by the Langmuir model at 25°C is 33.898 mg/g, according to Langmuir isotherm model, The n value 1.44 of Freundlich isotherm model is greater than 1.0, it indicates that PAC is feasible for the HA adsorption. Experiment results exhibits kinetic adsorption reached equilibrium about 120 minutes; the best selection in kinetic models is Pseudo second-order equation model. According to thermodynamic analysis, the adsorption of HA onto PAC is an exothermic process. Adsorption of HA by PAC has a good performance with higher HA concentration, lower pH and lower temperature.
