Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. The present paper is concerned with numerical investigation of properties and processes in arc with hybrid type of stabilization based on combination of principles of Gerdien arc and a common gas stabilized arc. This kind of stabilized arc has been elaborated at the Institute and has not been studied in detail yet. In fact two arcs in series are used .The first one is short gas stabilized arc with low gas flow rate. This arc creates a cathode for the second arc stabilized by water or generally by liquid vortex. The mechanisms controlling the arc and plasma parameters are influenced by mixing of gas plasma flowing from the first arc into the water chamber with the plasma created by ionization of steam. Parameters of the generated thermal plasma jet and plasma composition can be thus controlled by a control of parameters of both arcs and by conditions of their interaction. In this study argon and water have been chosen as working gases.
