Abstract :
In this paper, the mainly used packet scheduling algorithms in wireless communication system will be introduced. The 3rd Generation partnership long term evolution (3GPP LTE) will provide QoS guaranteed multimedia services which demand much higher downlink packet rate and lower HOL packet delay. So, a suitable packet scheduling algorithm is becoming more and more important in 3GPP LTE system. The performance of the 3GPP LTE system is mainly evaluated in terms of average delay for real-time service, packet loss for non-real-time service, system throughput and so on. Simulation is made to show that the widely used M-LWDF algorithm provides great performance for real-time services. But for non-realtime services, the performance of M-LWDF algorithm is not as well because it doesn´t consider the packet loss caused by buffer overflow. We´ll introduce an evolved M-LWDF which provides better performance with mixed services.
