  • Abstract
In this work, a theoretical model, for the analysis of 2D electromagnetic scattering of a plane wave by perfectly-conducting objects buried in a dielectric layer, is described. The method is based on the Cylindrical-Wave Approach (CWA), and it can deal with an arbitrary number of cylinders placed in the dielectric layer. A numerical code which solves the scattering problem both in near- and far-field region and for TE and TM polarization has been implemented. The code allows to characterize many realistic scenarios investigated by Surface Penetrating Radars. Results are given for a particular application of scattering by reinforced concrete, which is modelled by a dielectric wall containing an alignment of a finite number of parallel wires.
