Abstract
This paper introduces the rough sets theory for secondary measurement selection of soft sensor modeling. Using the rough sets theory, a smaller set of secondary measurements containing the most information of the primary variable can be found. This method has been implemented at Shanghai Refinery for the soft sensor to estimate the propylene composition, and a good result is obtained.
