Abstract :
The design and performance of a waveguide-to-microstrip transition is presented. The optimum bilateral finline taper has been used to match the fundamental mode waveguide characteristic impedance to a 50-ohm micro-strip mounted on a low dielectric substrate. The transverse resonance method has been applied to calculate characteristic impedance of bilateral finline taking into consideration the finite metallization thickness and substrate holding grooves. The experimental results of X-band transition are also given.
