Abstract :
A compact printed tri-band antenna is described for wireless application. The radiator and ground plane of the antenna are etched on a piece of printed circuit board with an overall size of 24×19.9×1.524 mm3. Two asymmetrical strips are attached to the radiator. The measured operating frequencies cover the bands of 2.5–2.69 GHz for M-WIMAX, 3.7–4.2 GHz for C-band and 5.25–5.85 GHz for WLAN, and the gains at the three frequencies are around 3dB. The ground plane effect on impedance performance is greatly reduced by cutting the size of the ground plane. In addition, a parametric study of the antenna might be referential for antenna engineers.
