Abstract :
A review on some of the research that brings together the state of the art in new waveguide development with physical observation methods of unparalleled precision in the ultrafast optical regime. By controlling the waveguide structures, it is possible to access unique physical regimes. Some of these regimes include optical soliton dynamics, frequency conversion, from birefringent phase-matching to supercontinuum generation that can open new avenues in fiber based all-optical processing on ultrafast timescales.
