Abstract :
How to construct Web ontologies has become a key technology to enable the Semantic Web, especially constructing ontologies by extracting domain knowledge from database model. However, classical ontologies are limited to crisp concepts and may not be sufficient for handling fuzzy information found in many real-word application domains. Considering the difficulty of generation of fuzzy ontology using pre-defined concepts levels, construction of fuzzy ontology by extracting domain knowledge from fuzzy database model such as fuzzy EER model is proposed. In this paper, firstly, the formal definition of fuzzy EER model and fuzzy ontology are given, respectively. And then, a group of transformation rules from fuzzy EER model to fuzzy ontology are defined. Further, the transformation algorithm is presented. Finally, the implementation process of the transformation algorithm is described. The proposed approach to construction of fuzzy ontology based on the fuzzy EER model can meet the needs of fuzzy application domains.
