Abstract :
The linear stage of parametric instability of electromagnetic surface waves guided by the planar composite layer with metal walls is investigated. This instability can arise due to the presence of an external time-harmonic magnetic field oriented parallel to the slab boundary if the space-time condition between the interaction waves takes place. The instability growth rate is determined.
