Abstract :
This paper focuses on the application of a transmission expansion cost-benefit analysis methodology in order to evaluate alternative grid reinforcement options in presence of large RES-E penetration. Different benefits are assessed by means of the tool REMARK, which allows to duly take into account the non-predictable behavior of RES-E by means of a probabilistic approach. The investigation is carried out considering foreseen 2020 scenarios for the Italian power system: the case of Italy has in fact emerged in the latest years for the fast-growing penetration of solar and wind power generation.
