  • Abstract
    In this paper, we propose a 3D middleware between the 3D application layer and the transport layer for the transmission of triangle-based progressively compressed 3D models. The significant features of the proposed middleware include. 1) handing 3D models with the algorithm of progressive geometry compression based on wavelet transformation, and the compressed bitstream structure is rate scalability and resolution scalability. 2) adopting an error-resilient transmission for progressively compressed 3D streaming, and the method is scalable with respect to both network bandwidth and network packet-loss rate. Experimental results show that the proposed 3D middleware can achieve the objectives of low transmission delay and small distortion.
