Abstract :
Renewable energy sources, represented especially by wind energy, has become a representative part of Romanian production. The (N-1) safety principle was verified for the area where the wind power plants have been installed and connected to Romanian Power System. This analysis is focused only to the network adequacy. The purpose is to show that without an appropriate development of the transmission network, the Romanian Power System can be pushed towards its operational limits, increasing the risk to jeopardize its reliability in operation. Also, dynamic simulations were made to illustrate the system behavior in the presence of WPP. The dynamic simulations were made with the specialized software Eurostag using the National Power System database.
