Abstract :
This paper investigates new applications that reduce the impact of outages in power systems, which are made possible with expanded data acquisition and communication solutions introduced through the development of smart grid. Requirements for such applications are highlighted by studying their use cases. Standards associated with data formats and communication protocols facilitating data integration are also identified.
