Abstract
Two high resolution velocity estimators are proposed which combine the covariance steering and time dependent strategy of the semblance algorithm and the high resolution beamforming methodology. The discrimination threshold study shows that the new velocity estimators have superior performance in detecting closely clustered seismic events. In addition to the discrimination threshold study, the covariance matrix estimation problem is addressed for the new velocity estimator in the special nonstationary and transient scenarios of exploration seismic processing applications.<>
