Abstract
Several considerations, especially large scale integration of renewables in power systems require new, cheap sources of controllability to be discovered and activated to compensate for the lack of deterministic behavior. This paper discusses some aspects of the EU FP7 framework project ADDRESS that shall enable controllable loads, namely both organizational aspects and the proposed solution. Discussion includes mathematical formulation of optimization algorithms for the distribution network operation that maximizes desired impact of the controllable load despite the local network constraints.
