Abstract
A 10000-rule knowledge-based system composed of a network of knowledge bases (a clip-board system) that aids shop floor personnel doing electrical connector assembly to select the correct tools and materials for each connector is described. The system requirements, design and implementation are examined. The current production version of the system, which was tested and released for shop use in October 1986, has reduced process specification search time by a factor of 10
