Abstract :
Slotted solid rotor line-start permanent magnet motor has good synchronization capability in high load torque and high moment of inertia. This paper analysis the rotor slots parameters effect on the motor performance. These parameters are rotor slot length and width. For these, two important torques were considered. Starting torque and the torque near synchronization speed. For high synchronization capability these torques should be in high value. Result of sensitivity analysis shows, the rotor slot depth and width of 16.8 mm, and 2 mm, respectively was considered in case study motor design. At the end, a 4-pole, 1500 rpm, 750 watt, 3-phase line start synchronous motor with optimized slotted solid rotor is built.
