Abstract :
This paper proposes a new approach to simulate inter-bar currents and its effects on broken rotor bar index in squirrel cage Induction Motor (IM). The new method uses several 2D Magnetic Equivalent Circuits (MEC) to include inter-bar currents in simulations instead of using 3D modeling like 3D finite element and 3D MEC. The major advantages of this method are acceptable accuracy and short computing time.
