Abstract :
VANETs are seen to be playing a major role in support of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication constitutes an important aspect of this role. For a VANET to offer such capability its design parameters must be carefully determined so as to accomplish optimal performance. Location Service Management is a pivotal concern for addressing performance issues in VANETs. In this paper, we propose a location service management protocol (LSMP) and analyze its performance. To capture the conflicting multi-criteria nature of the problem the network design is approached as a Pareto front for the selection of network parameters. We envision that such integration of the Pareto formulation in a simulation environment provides an interactive and effective design environment to accomplish optimized VANETs that can live up to ITS demands.
