Abstract :
Novel bearing and range estimation algorithms are proposed using cyclostationarity of the underlying processes. By exploiting the higher-order temporal properties of communication signals, direction finding algorithms are proposed for narrowband non-Gaussian signals. These algorithms improve resolution and are tolerant to all Gaussian, as well as some non-Gaussian, interferences. In active radar situations, moving targets reflect signals whose statistics are periodically time-varying. By casting the target tracking problem in the cyclic domain, novel algorithms are developed for estimating the time-varying range; these methods are tolerant to any stationary noise as well as transients.<>
