Abstract
Magnetic component models based on 1D field distribution assumption are widely used. They rely on the transformation of every layer of conductors into an equivalent foil layer. This paper presents a study of different approaches to obtain this equivalent layer, providing a physical insight on the scope and limitations of each approach. Some improvements to extend the applicability of the 1D models are also presented.
