Abstract :
The detailed history of the invention of the first designs of four-electrode radio tubes is presented. It is noted that the first design of such tube was created by a Russian radio technician V.I. Kovalenkov. After it a tube with two control grids was designed by an Italian physicist Quirino Majorana. It is shown that this type of tubes includes a triode designed by an employee of RCA Norman E. Wunderlich, which was produced by Arcturus company.
