Abstract :
How to improve the whole processing capability, the availability and survivability of network by use of load balancing is studied in this paper. To solve the problem with dynamic traffic, a novel dynamic weight based traffic sharing (DW-TS) algorithm is proposed. In DW-TS, we introduce the idea of traffic engineering algorithm-minimum interference routing algorithm (MIRA) in generalized multi-protocol label switching (GMPLS) networks and define an exponential formula of dynamic weight. In this formula, the weight of link is adjusted dynamically according to both utilization and criticality of the link. In addition, traffic sharing is applied in routing and allocating process to enhance the survivability of network. Simulation results demonstrate that the whole availability and survivability of network is increased with DW-TS. Compared with traditional load balancing algorithms, DW-TS can reduce blocking probability of network with dynamic traffic significantly and the reduction is up to 30%.
