Abstract :
In this paper, an improved ZVT PWM boost converter using a coupled inductor is proposed to minimize the switching loss of the auxiliary switch. To reduce the turn-off switching loss of the auxiliary switch and the EMI noise, the low-voltage zener diode is used in the auxiliary switching network. Soft-switching for the auxiliary switch is guaranteed at wide line and load ranges using this technique. The operation principles of the proposed converter are explained and analyzed. Based on the analysis, design guidelines are given. The prototype of 1 kW, 100 kHz system is implemented for experimental verification.
