Abstract :
In this paper a new approach for determining the location of the source of voltage sag is presented. First, the contribution of short circuits to the creation of voltage sag is discussed. Then, considering the results of short circuit analysis, monitor arrangements that can monitor the entire network effectively, are found using a genetic algorithm approach. As the next step, appropriate indices are introduced for determining the discrimination of the data recorded by the monitors, and the amount of overlap between borders of the monitors. The method used for the determination of the indices is ANOVA and fuzzy logic. Next a fuzzy inference system is designed to decide which of the found arrangements is the best, with respect to the defined indices.
