Abstract
This paper presents the design of a digital Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filter for active filtering applications, which are useful for the correction of harmonic currents produced by non linear loads. The designed hardware architecture of the digital IIR filter was coded in VHDL (Very high speed integrated Hardware Description Language) for Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation. The obtained computation time of the IIR filter is very low and only equal to 1.62 μs. Numerous simulation results are presented in order to illustrate the efficiency of the designed IIR filter.
