Abstract :
The paper considers thermal effects of the microwave-range electromagnetic radiation on the water based colloidal solution containing iron oxide nanoparticles (magnetite) and that on the distilled water. Irradiation was carried out at several frequencies using the open end of the waveguide. As a result of experimental studies it is found that after the irradiation with power of 33 dBm (about 2 W) and a 10-minute duration, the water-based solution of colloidal magnetite has been heated higher than the distilled water (the maximum temperature difference was about 3°C).
