Abstract :
Geocasting is delivery of packets from a source to all nodes within certain geographical area. The main aim here is to deliver packet to the entire set of node in the chosen geographical region with high fidelity and utilize the resources efficiently whereby, reducing the overhead and transmission cost. The most existing protocols that guarantee message delivery tend to deplete the node energy in the geocasting region. In this study we propose the concept of Energy aware Face Geocasting (EFG) protocol, which has a dominating set (DS) chosen, based on the energy residual of the node. The locally formed DS improves the existing virtual surround face geocasting without adding any communication overhead for the nodes in the geocasting region. Simulation results show that the DS thus formed extends lifetime of the geocasting region, which in turn prolongs longevity of network.
