Abstract :
We propose and analyse a distributed admission control scheme for CDMA cellular networks. In this scheme, every channel is available for use in every cell and channel access decisions are made by the mobiles on the basis of information broadcast from the base stations. This is different from the access strategies which have appeared in the literature where call requests are processed by the base stations. We present an approximate teletraffic analysis of this decentralised control scheme. Expressions for the handover call rate and holding times are derived, from which the average effective network call arrival rate and call holding times can be determined. We also present expressions for blocking of new and handover calls. The performance of the system is further studied by simulating a 25 cell network and comparing the performance with the analytical results
