  • Abstract
The report analyzes the results of the combined consecutive day-time and night-time (in the dry autumn season, when vegetation processes mostly canceled) and multi-seasonal (in summer and winter conditions) radar - thermal IR sensing of grass stand covered dried-out wetlands. Investigations were carried out by using ACRS-30 aviation remote sensing complex. Investigation area was subjected to previously drained swamps in the area of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region of Ukraine. As a result it was shown that the radar-thermal IR survey can detect manifestations of hazardous processes on grass stand covered drained-out wetlands: over-wetting (due to non-working state of drainage channels) sites, as well as areas of low-temperature oxidation and self-heating of organic matter (including peat) prior to their spontaneous combustion in excessively drained-out sites.
