Abstract :
General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is developing a SINCGARS radio upgrade that provides an increased information bandwidth for the warfighter, including those at echelons participating in the Tactical Internet. This SINCGARS high data rate (HDR) radio is capable of operating at 48 kbps frequency hop (FH) and 60 kbps single channel (SC) data rates. HDR accomplishes these rates in a 25 kHz channel bandwidth, with sensitivity, range, and anti-jam resistance comparable to the 9.6 kbps EDM (enhanced data mode) rate. Designed as an upgrade to the SINCGARS system improvement program (SIP), HDR provides an affordable bridge between today´s CNR legacy systems and the future digital radio (FDR) of the post-2005 era
