Abstract :
This contribution is an attempt to bridge circuit geometrical topologies with equivalent network architecture synthesis. For bridging between physical topology (layout-driven) and equivalent network representations (lumped elements circuit driven), electromagnetic eigen-states are introduced. While most of available broadband extraction methodologies cast global Z or Y parameters in pole-residue expansions, the proposed synthesis approach considers, in place of global Z and Y parameters, realizable alternative state-variables to derive in lumped circuit elements. Such alternative state-variables referenced as eigen-states input impedance/admittance can be easily extracted from measurement or from EM analysis with appropriate canonical excitations. Link between physical layout topologies and equivalent circuit representations is suggested for optimization/response-tuning purposes. The proposed synthesis methodology derived for symmetric reciprocal structures with N = 2n ports is extended, in this work, to non-symmetrical structures as well. The validity of the broadband extraction methodology is demonstrated through correlations with measurement.
