Abstract :
The effect of temperature on corona poled electromechanical films (EMFi) of cellular polypropylene (PP) is investigated. In particular, short-circuit thermally-stimulated-currents (TSC) are reported together with length and thickness mode resonance parameters in the free resonator mode. Variations in sample thickness with temperature were measured using thermomechanical analysis. From the data collected, we conclude that at elevated temperature modification of the cellular structure of the material occurs in addition to charge detrapping. However, the former has the greater effect on the piezoelectric nature of the material.
