Abstract :
A new approach to modelling the scattering and dissipation characteristics of lossy strip gratings is proposed. It enables the quantities of the substantially different scales to be treated separately that dramatically improves accuracy of calculating losses and provides a physical insight in the mechanisms of absorption by impedance strip gratings.
