Abstract :
The influence of the metal used as anode on ozone generation by negative corona discharge in pure oxygen has been investigated. Three different metals have been tested: plain carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. The saturated ozone concentration has been determined by means of ultraviolet (UV) absorption and has been correlated with the current intensity of the corona discharge. The decay times of ozone, after having switched off the corona discharge, have also been measured.
